The weather man said it would be in the 60's today. So of course a thick blanket of snow covered the forest. Mathew waited on the thinning treeline of the forest for Serenity to show up. He wasn't going to let a bit of snow keep him from getting outside. In fact, it even made it more appealing. Bringing Serenity along made it their first real date. He didn't really prepare in any way. He wore a thick black down coat laced with fake fur and had the hood pulled up.

Serenity smiled and pulled her jacket around her a little tighter. It wasn't too cold for the snow, but with her jacket on she enjoyed the shimmering of the snow in the suns light. The look of the snow was so calming and peaceful, and soothing. Especially in the graveyard which she had already been to that morning. It's where she had left Sorina. She didn't want company today. Or rather she didn't want to have to listen to the dove's comments today.
She held out a warm drink to Mathew as she came up to him, "I'm pretty sure it's what you wanted." she said having passed a cafe on the way and smiling as she realized it would be cold in the forest today. Not that she didn't think it was a kind gesture, but she hoped he'd like it. She had tried what he had suggested, letting the future just play out the way it wanted. Not second guessing herself. It was annoyingly difficult not to, how normal people were able to stand not seeing the future she had no idea.

"Oh thanks!" he said, taking the hot chocolate graciously. His face lit up in a smile the instant he lay eyes on her. He could almost feel his heart swimming around his stomach. "I'm glad it snowed. Its beautiful isn't it?" He said, taking her hand and looking to the forest. The dead trees would seem ugly if not for having accumulated snow. The trees had lost their leaves and in their place had grown diamonds, glinting in the sun. The evergreens Dominated the scene, though. They had caught much more snow. He tilted the mug up to his face a little to quickly. "Ah! HOT!" his tongue was scalded instantly, but he still chuckled at his misfortune.

Serenity smiled and tried not to laugh, "Well it's not called cold chocolate." she joked lightly and took a sip of her tea, she was never much of a coffee person. It was to bitter for her taste, and somehow managed to remind her of the spirits who never passed over.
She blinked to herself to switch her train of thought and glanced around at the forest, "It's peaceful like this," she said with a smile, and kicked a pile of snow with her foot. She had always liked the snow no matter how cold it was. It was so graceful even just lying on the ground sparkling in the light of the sun. Like nothing could disturb it even if they tried. Of course with the small footprints running through it a bunch of children had tried. And tried hard from the looks of the pfts of snow where it looked like a snowball fight had taken place.
"Very serene." she said with a small laugh, she was glad that they could go out together like this without running away form the FBI or a bar full of teenagers or even her annoying teammates, and especially the dove that followed her around. It had taken her a few minutes to ditch the dove but it had diffidently been worth it. Or rather Mathew was worth it.

"Yeth, I loth the thnow!" he said, as he shoveled handfulls of snow into his mouth, and just a little in the drink to cool it down from scalding hellfire chocolate to mere hot chocolate, the drink of mortals.
He sighed in awe and a few moments passed in silence before he said, "Come on, I have something to show you." He tugged at her hand like a small excited child. He lifted his boots out of the snow and began trudging uphill.

Serenity let a smile cross her features as she Mathew tugged her through the snow by her hand, "Ok so what is it?" she asked trying very hard not to look into the future to see what it would be. Very hard considering that she really wanted to just go and see exactly what the surprise would be. But she had chosen to try to leave the powers behind at the graveyard if she could.

"No looking into the future, its a surprise. In fact, close your eyes" He said, stopping in tracks. As he spoke he wagged his finger at her as if telling her off for some childish behavior. He had an excited smile on his face. He finished off the cup of hot chocolate quickly, and after crushing the cup, stuck it in his back pocket.

Serenity pouted slightly at the thought of having to keep her eyes closed. She wasn't quite looking forward to being dragged through the snow with her eyes closed. She took a long drink and finished off her tea, "I haven't looked, yet." she said adding the yet as almost an after thought and smiled up at Mathew.
She wouldn't have let anyone else drag her through the snow with her eyes closed without knowing where she was going if it had been anyone else. It wasn't often she went blind for any length of time. "And if I fall over I'm holding you responsible." she said with a teasing smile and closed her eyes hoping she didn't trip over and fall on her face. That would not only be embarrassing but freezing on top of that.

Mathew waved his hand in front of her face to make sure before dragging her uphill. After a minute of walking straight, they made a slight turn to the right and began going uphill again. After two more minutes of walking through the snow he came to a stop, and turned her to her left. "Alright, you can open them." He said. He had taken her to a clearing near the top of a hill. It over looked the entire forest and you could even see Steel city in the great distance. The veiw was... breathetaking. "This is my secret spot used to come here all the time, before the...well... you know."

Serenity slowly let her eyes open as she took in the breathtaking view before her, "It's beautiful." she said her mouth open in shock, she hadn't realized that a place like this had existed in the forest. The snow was just kissing the branches of the trees and the sun was making them glisten in the light. From the angle they were looking from there was almost no movement from the forest below them and made it look almost like a photo that would have made millions in a new york art gallery.
"Thanks for bringing me here." she said with a smile spreading across her face of it's own accord. "It really is amazing."
