Tara Strong, the Tamaranian Human Kryptonian hybrid was spending part of the day in the local park, it was her first time in this park and she was really liking it and was a great experience to be here, it was a beautiful park in an early Fall day. The Leaves where beautiful colors and a layer of leaves already covered the ground. She smiled softly at the children playing and elderly couples walking peacefully. It was a peacefull, and calming sight. Despite the already chilly weather, Tara was waring summer clothing,. A pair or jeans, and a slight green tshirt. She was sitting on a bench and just watching the park and was not effected with the colder breath of the wind, witch made her fairly long red hair blow around slightly.

wildly lawful The weather had just started turning nicer - at least, nicer in Shift's opinion. As one of the few dozen people in the world covered in fur, her opinion of nice was usually significantly different than anyone else's. Summer had shedding like crazy, something that annoyed her and and her teammate (and meant they needed to bring out the heavy duty vacuum.) But an afternoon like this was nice for everyone - a nice break from the heat of summer, the smell of the ocean coming in from the docks on a cool breeze. The park had a few people wandering around in it, old couples and kids running around, laughing. The redhead with bright orange skin, however, stuck out like...maybe less of a sore thumb than Athena did, but not by much.
"Hi, Tara!" The Teen Titan called out, waving as she walked up to the other Titan. Shift was glad to see her new teammate out enjoying the city; it was such a nice time of year, with the leaves turning colors. It made them harder for her to hide in, but that was a small price to pay. She wore less layers than most of the civilians, who had on light jackets to protect against the wind; Athena wore a plain black t-shirt and blue jeans, the belt on her jeans holding her gold and black Titans' communicator. It was silent, for now - no emergencies or people needing the Titans' help. She looked up at her teammate, smiling. "How do you like the park? Isn't it pretty?"

" Yes it is, this Terran season of Spring is wonderful indeed." Tara spoke smiling. And since she did not really understand the seasons yet, she acciddently mixed her season up.
" Come friend, sit with me, and let us enjoy this sight together. " She invited Athena to join her. The sits and sounds where however a little loud to her senses as she did not learn to control and focus her hearing and sense of smell yet. So she heard and smlled everything much louder and stronger then what a human normally would. To human ears, this was a quiet park... bot the the alien, it sounded like people where talking on hear ears, with the louder kids sounding like they where screaming there lungs out and the nice wind sounded like a gale to her ears.

wildly lawful Spring? Wasn’t it Fall? Shift was puzzled for a moment, before she realized that the other heroine was simply mistaken. Apparently, Tamarainian seasons were different, or so she’d been told – actually, Athena wasn’t even sure if Tamaran had anything like seasons, like Earth did. “What does Tamaran look like this time of year, Tara? And Krypton?” She asked her teammate as she sat down on the bench next to her. It was a little warmed by the sun, still cool enough to sit on comfortably. The Titan had never seen an alien planet, except in some pictures that other generations of Teen Titans had left in the Tower, so she was interested in hearing about them.
While her own night vision was a little better than a normal humans, and her hearing was improved thanks to her pointed ear shape, Athena’s senses weren’t nearly as well developed as Tara’s were, thanks to her alien blood. But she didn’t mind the sights or sounds, and they didn’t seem to be bothering the other heroine, so Shift didn’t say anything about it, assuming Tara had it under control. “It’s quieter in the parks now that school is back in session.” The shape-shifter commented, gesturing with one hand at the smaller children running around, too young to be in school.

She smiled warmly when Athena asked how was her native planet. She however grew a little sad from remembering her parents and actually being homesick. "Tamaran is warmer then what you would expect, it is fairly warm all the time, there is however a short time when the weather is like this, before once again becoming warm but my people do not have a name for the different parts of the year.. It is the hottest on the Plains or Citt'rok and the coldest on the Pole of Glurb'ciritt. On Krypton there are Seasons... but not like on planet Terra, it only becomes a little cooler then this before turning into a nice warm weather... but it is never hot... exept on the second moon of Tamaran... on the great Lava Flows of Vulcanis. it is a very popular and important tourist destination and an important industrial location is not far from the city. " Tara said with a soft smile, remembering that a part of her piloting training was infact over the flows. She looked somewhat relieved. " Luckily they are not around much, i do not like loud noises... being at concerts is loud enught for me. " Tara grinned at the other Titan.

wildly lawful Tara's face turned pensive as she grew still for a moment, and Athena sat patiently and waited. She couldn't imagine how hard it would have been to lose her parents - and the differences in culture must have been huge, too. The Titan listened, hearing the fondness in Tara's voice as she explained the different seasons - or lack thereof - of her parents' planets. Nodding, Shift grinned in return, reaching up to touch the tip of one of her own ears - pointed, unusually for a human, and green, unusual for a lot of creatures on Earth, period. Well, she wasn't the only one. "Oh, I see. That sounds, uh, pretty hot to me - but my fur makes everything hot." Athena said, shrugging. "And yeah, concerts can be pretty loud, even for humans." She agreed, as she tried to picture a moon with seasons, with lava flows. It sounded very picturesque...and dangerous, especially for anyone that wasn't as hearty as Tara, or other Tamaraneans and Kryptonians were. "They can still be fun, though. Oh! If you don't have colder weather on your parents' planets, does that mean you haven't seen snow?" She asked, excitedly. There were places on earth that didn't snow, of course, so it wasn't so unusual...but there were places on Earth that were nothing but snow, too.

Tar nodded to the question of Athena. "Yes, i have not seen snow yet, this is the first time when i am on Terra for more then a few weeks at a time. But i know that the north of Europe and America has some of this snow, yes? My parents told me stories of Terra when i was a child, but it is... so different then what i had imagined. " Tara told the other girl with a bit of saddness and all of a sudden she felt really lost, homesick and sad. She has to fight to not bust into tears, but her upbringing helped her control her emotions somewhat. Her parents has died right in front of her, something that she never told anybody, but hoped that the other Titan would understand. Her voice was a little shaky and her eyes where already a little watery when she spoke. "It was not just the planet of my parents, but also my home... and watching my parents die in front of me, i lost a large part of my willpower, and left my hope, going to the only place that i knew of that i could be alone. But i spend some time with a friend who helped understand the basics of Terran life... i still have so very much to learn. " Tara said with a sad sight. "I want to thank you greatly for letting me be part of the Titans, something bigger then me... this is something of a family of sort to me. " Tara admited to Athena.

wildly lawful Tara’s long hair fell over her shoulder as she nodded, glowing in that entirely alien way Tamarainian’s had. Shift ran a hand through her own twists, fiddling with the ends as she listened to her teammate. She’d known that Tara had been on Earth before, even spent some time there, although she hadn’t been sure how much. Not long, it sounded like, if most of what she’d heard had been stories from her parents. Athena nodded as the other Titan talked, looking concerned when she saw the other girl looked upset over something – she’d lost her parents recently, but Athena didn’t know the details, trusting Tara to come to her teammates if she needed someone to talk to. They were Titans, friends, a family of sorts – it was what they did.
Her free hand covered her mouth as Tara shakily spoke of her parents – watching them die in front of her, being unable to stop it… Athena gasped. She couldn’t imagine going through something like that! Not being the physically touchy type, Shift was always sure when someone needed a hug, and didn’t always liked to be touched, but this seemed like one of those times. She put a gloved hand on Tara’s shoulder – warmer under her touch than a normal humans’ – and squeezed, reassuringly. Tara was still new to the team, but Shift felt a connection to her, the same kind she felt with all of her teammates. “Of course, Tara. I’m so sorry you had to go through that…with your parents…I couldn’t imagine losing my mom or dad.”
To be fair, her dad was a superhero, which wasn’t something many people could say. The specter of death hung over heroes in a way it didn’t for a lot of beings in the universe – and death wasn’t always permanent, either. Still, the thought was sad, and scary. “You’ll always have a family with the Titans.”

" Athena... i thank you. " She noded again, and shook her head with a frown. "What might they be thinking, this is a sign of great weakness. " Tara said angryily wiping her forming tears away and clearing her throat. Her culture was a war-like race and tears, where seen as a weakness to them. "We are soldiers, not weak... but still it pains me much. " Tara said with a sad frown. "Being a child of two worlds is not easy. " She smiked with a frown. All of a sudden, She saw a smal cute white and fluffy puppy run towards her. She was was confused and a little scared by it. As it was barking and still running towards her, Tara grew alert and made a Star Bolt with one of her hands, just in care the dog would attack her. " Am i to hurt it or not, Shift?" Tara asked with some hidden concern in her tone but by the time she would have gotten the answer, the puppy leaped up to her lap and then to her chest and happily started licking her face and hand. "Athena... please tell me that this is not some form of acidic attack. " Tara muttered with a grin as the puppy was all over her face and it was ticking her but was also a fun feeling.

wildly lawful “It’s okay, nobody’s going to think less of you for being sad. What happened to yours parents…to you…that would make anyone sad.” Athena reassured her teammate, putting a gloved hand on her shoulder. Tara was warm to the touch – at least for a human, warmer than normal. It was perfectly normal for a Tamarainian, of course, although Kryptonians tended to be closer to humans, or so Shift had heard. And just because she said it was okay to feel deeper emotions didn’t meant Tara would agree with her, so Athena was ready to hear a warrior’s argument against it…but was distracted as the younger heroine tensed. Shift drew back, puzzled, and looked around, turning to see what had put Tara on the defensive.
Unable to stop her teammate, or the dog, before it jumped into Tara’s lap, Shift put a hand over her mouth to stifle her laughter at the scene. “No, no, don’t hurt it, Tara. It’s just a dog…someone’s pet that got loose, I bet.” Athena held out her hand to the puppy, bending down so she could get a better look at it, looking for a collar and tag. Animals usually liked her, so she wasn’t too worried about the pup, and it was definitely friendly to Tara. “I can turn into one, too – see?” Backing a step or two away, the shape shifter spread her arms out in a ‘ta da!’ gesture, and was gone in a blur. Where a scarred, braided human had been standing a moment before now sat a dog, a Shepard of some kind…and entirely green, different shades of green that corresponded with the species’ of dog – darker green where the dog would have dark brown or black, lighter green where it would have been tan or white. Her tail wagged, thumping against the ground, scattering desiccated leaves.
