NAPIER, HARVEY
j e s t e r
j e s t e r
AGE: 17
GENDER: Male
TEAM: Rider’s Deck - leader and founding member
SIDE: Neutral
OCCUPATION: Student
NATIONALITY: American - Caucasian
HISTORY: Harvey was born to Gotham’s most crazy and psychopathic murderous couples, the Joker and Harley Quinn. Growing up, his childhood was full of abuse as he was groomed and beaten into becoming the next Joker. If the Batman had a legacy, why shouldn’t the Joker after all? He grew to resent his parents early on, but could see no way out. All he was good for was being bad. As a kid, he shoplifted often and around the age of eleven, he started accompanying his father when the man decided to attack Gotham countless of times. At the age of thirteen, almost fourteen, he ran away from home and collected his own team, or cards as he often referred to them as. Together they formed Rider’s Deck and moved to Coalfield in California. Once in Coalfield, he ran into Robin, the Boy Wonder, and clashed with him on several occasions. His team often defeated the Gothamite; that was until Joshua got his own team, Young Justice. The two teams quickly became arch enemies. However when Nebula came to Coalfield, they were forced to make a truce and work together. After losing the war in Coalfield, Harvey moved his team to Jump City where they continued their villainous actions. With the threat of Nebula coming to Jump City, he has once again made a truce with Young Justice that appears to have permanently turned the villainous team neutral. However things are not always what they appear to be. After losing several members, one even to death, and with his sanity slowly slipping away, it is unclear if Harvey intends to stay neutral forever, or eventually return to his evil ways.
FAMILY:
- Jack ‘Joker’ Napier / Father
- Harley Quinn / Mother
PERSONALITY: Harvey has borderline personality disorder which is defined as a mental disorder that generates significant emotional instability that may lead to a variety of other stressful mental and behavioral problems. Because of the disorder, he has a severely distorted self-image and often feels worthless and very flawed. He can have anger issues at times and mood swings and impulsive behavior. In his more sane moments, Harvey is a very good leader of his team and has earned their loyalty and respect. He often doubts himself as a leader due to the death of a teammate and the loss of several others. He is very protective of his teammates, willing to die to keep them safe. He is strong willed, able to handle many people no matter what they’re like; used to breaking up fights between his teammates when they wouldn’t get along. His long exposure to his parents and their poisons have left him mentally broken, though. He has episodes where he just seems to lose all sanity and break down laughing before crying.
DISLIKES: His parents, the thought of being the next Joker, losing his sanity, his friends suffering, killing, betrayal, death, and being lonely.
DREAMS: Nothing really.
FEARS: His parents.
HOPES: To not follow in his father’s footsteps.

BODY STRUCTURE: Harvey stands at five feet and eight inches tall and is built with a strong upper and lower body. He is quick and agile but still able to hold his own in a fight. Each of his ears are pierced and he has scars on his arms, stomach, and thighs from a depression he used to face when he started cutting himself.
STYLE: Harvey’s style is similar to the other members of Rider’s Deck. He wears a lot of dark colors; the only bright colors he wears are a bright green and a bright purple. He has this black sweatshirt with red stripes on the sleeves that he loves to wear no matter what else he’s wearing. He isn’t that picky with what he wears, though formal wear isn’t really his favorite. He prefers denim or leather over slacks and t-shirts over dress shirts.
COSTUME: Jester’s costume consists of dark denim jeans with tears on the knees and a black tank top with a bright green and bright purple striped sweatshirt half-way zipped up on top, the sleeves longer than his arms and the hood up on his head. He wears a bright purple domino mask and black fingerless gloves as well as dark green, almost black boots zipped up over his pant legs.
ODDITIES: None.
ABILITIES: Harvey doesn’t possess any superhuman abilities, though he is very skilled with a knife and in hand-to-hand combat.
CONTROL: knife / 10, combat / 5
SIDE-AFFECTS: None.
WEAKNESSES: Any weapon can harm him. Any mention of his family is an affective blow to him as he hates thinking about his lineage.
ONCE I COULD FEEL
some feeling once in a while
some feeling once in a while
INTRODUCTION: He hadn't expected this to happen. He had expected to take down a spy working for Nebula. He hadn't expected the man to be wearing a clown mask and dressed like the goons his father used to hire. Nebula knew how to get to him. They knew how to push his buttons. And it worked. The man had spoken to him how his father had often done, calling him a disgrace and insisting that he had to kill Robin, to get back at Batman for locking his mother in jail.
He had fought the man. Somewhere along the way, he had grabbed his pocket knife and slashed the man's throat. His eyes widened at the stream of blood that flew as his knife easily slit through the man's skin. Blood splashed against the floor. The body fell with a loud thud. He stared at it, his hand shaking, the knife's blade bathed in a crimson color.
How long had it been since he killed a man? A year or two? The memories came flooding back, pouring down on him as he fell to his knees, his pants hitting the pool of crimson. Memories of his father teaching him how to kill. Memories of being prepared to become the next Joker. Memories of abuse, of loneliness, and darkness. Starting Rider's Deck had been a break from his father, but becoming a villain had been what the man wanted from his son. He had known it all along.
And now what was he doing?
Trying to be a hero when he had been bred to kill? No one would believe that the son of Joker could so easily turn to the side of good. In fact, he didn't even believe it. As he knelt in the apartment, his head hung low, he grinned. The door was cracked open slightly. He hadn't bothered to close it. He grinned now as he felt his sanity slipping. Every day was a struggle to keep what little sanity he had. He was saner than his father, but not by much. After all, how was he expected to be sane with the childhood he had?
He found himself laughing. At first it was quiet, but in grew in volume. He didn't know why he was laughing. He wasn't happy. He was scared. He had killed a man. Robin and his other allies couldn't find out. But what was there to do? Who would help a psychotic teenager like him? His fear showed on his face despite the domino mask he wore. His sides hurt but he continued laughing. Years of being exposed to his father's Joker Gas, of being forced to develop immunity to it. They had gotten to him. He was breaking. He was cracking. His walls were falling down.
