Cyril frowned as he snuck down the empty, dark hallway of the Cayte Museum. There had been rumours of a few new donations - expensive ones, but weren't they all supposed to be expensive? A few were even supposed to be from the Wayne Foundation, recovered from some big-name villains' hands and shuffled around the country to keep it from being an easier target. Unfortunately for the museum, Chairoscuro had been hired to steal just those peices - and he was finding it suspiciously easy so far.
The various heroes of Jump Citty had been quiet all night; he'd spotted some on patrol, a couple of them helping out a mugging victim, but nothing big. Usually Cyril wouldn't have thought much of it; he might even have taken advantage of the low level of heroic activity. Now it just made him jumpy, on edge, the hair on the back of his neck rising. Because tonight - tonight, he'd had planned for weeks. The blue prints his employer had given him had been useful in avoiding cameras and gaurds, but he knew from expereince that it shouldn't have been so easy. There should have been an errant gaurd he had to take out, a camera he had to sneak around...something!
Trying to dismiss his heebie-jeebies as just nerves, Chairoscuro adjusted his mask and crept on, glancing down at the blueprint in one hand as he sent a small floating circle of light forward, lighting the path ahead of him dimly. His eyes also glowed gently in response to the little blob, not that the actor-come-cat-thief could tell. "Let's see...one-ninety four, one-ninety five...one-ninety six!" Cyril shoved the map into the small bag hanging at his hip and opened the door, the little blob of light floating ahead of him to shed light on the supposed-to-be-empty room. CYRIL KIRABO @sheba

Museums were usually a waste of time for Sheba. After all, the items inside were only of value to a somewhat higher bracket of buyer than her usual fence, and it wasn't as if there was a lot of pretty to go around. It was mostly just ugly clay vases and forks used in the Civil War, and moth-eaten jackets that belonged to someone famous for some reason that made her fall asleep in class... Then again, she had to admit she didn't often come to museums to see what kinds of things could be found inside. It wasn't until she'd had to hide from a cop that afternoon that she'd darkened the doorway of this place. It was then that she saw the collection of jewelry they'd just gotten in from East City.
She got in her usual way, taking advantage of the shadows that directly linked the outside ventilation unit with the circulation for the whole building. This job was entirely an impulse, but she was crafty enough to stay in shadow form until she reached the exhibit she wanted, which was somewhere deep in the labyrinth. Even if she appeared in front of the cameras at this point, they wouldn't have time to call anyone in who could get her caught.
Materializing in front of the glass case, she pulled out her gun to break the display, but then realized that she wasn't the only person there. Someone was whispering to themselves, and it didn't sound like the usual corpulent security detail that she normally interacted with. He sounded a lot younger, in fact. How fun! It had been a long time since she'd had competition for her goodies.
She lifted a hand over her eyes as a ball of light preceded him into the room. Her powers were mostly shadow-based, and the emergence of light into her domain was enough to give her a mild headache and put her in a hell of a bad mood.
"Rude!" she complained, her gun still in her lowered hand.

An unexpected voice nearly made Cyril jump out of his skin. He jolted, expecting a security gaurds' taser - or gun; who knew with these people? - to be coming his way. When that didn't happen, the villain calmed down and took a better look at the redhead complaining at him. Scowling in return, he closed his hand and the light disappeared. "Who are you? What are you doing here?" She wasn't a gaurd, that much was exceedingly obvious - she looked young enough to be a student, even, maybe college like him, or high school. Especially not with that gun in her hand.
"You know what? I don't care. I just came to grab stuff and get a paycheck." But she probably wasn't - or she probably wasn't just a student, much like he wasn't just a struggling actor when he wasn't wearing his mask. He moved away from the doorway, striding through the dark room toward where he thought his goodies were. Hopefully they wouldn't be hard to find... Making a disgruntled noise, he sent a slip of shadow out, moving it with his hands til it hovered over his back like a shield - it made him feel better about turning his back on Sheba, even momentarily, and maybe this way she wouldn't be annoyed when he shone another little blob of light out of his other hand. He really didn't feel like finding out what a bullet felt like.
Finding what he needed was a simple matter - it was labelled neatly. Bless museums and their love of labelling anything and everything that came through their dusty old doors. Unfortunately, museums also liked their security, and that posed a problem. His light and shadow control didn't extend to anything more than what he could create - he couldn't slice through the glass, or bend lasers. Tapping his fingers on the glass, Chiaroscuro huffed, before looking over his shoulder at Sheba. "Hey, come shoot this thing for me." CYRIL KIRABO @sheba

"You too?" she asked, a grin crossing her lips to show slightly lengthened canines. "What an interesting coincidence."
She didn't often come across other masked thieves, but from his display earlier, she assumed that he had powers as well. That meant she would probably be better off if she didn't push him into a fight. Her powers were better suited for stealth and fleeing the fight, after all. She could fight if she was cornered, but it wasn't something she was particularly accustomed to doing. From his thin frame, she could only assume that he was similar, not a costumed muscle-head like the people that she saw on the news.
Keeping her finger carefully away from the trigger, she looked him over again as his attention turned elsewhere. His powers seemed to allow him to create a shadow to cover himself, and it blotted out some of the light that he held in his hand. It was still an annoyance, but at least he'd thought better of blinding her.
"Shoot it?" she asked, glancing at the gun in her hand. "Why would I do a fool thing like that? It would bring the guards and the cops running, and I haven't even gotten what I came here for."
Ignoring him for another moment, she tightened her grip on the handle of her gun and brought it down hard on the glass. The impact was enough to crack the case, and she used her shadows in the second impact to shatter the rest. The alarms began to blare as she reached in to the broken case and picked the jewelry from among the broken glass, and she grinned at him before lining up her shot and hit the target the strange boy had indicated.
"You're welcome!" she quipped, pocketing the jewelry as the lights came on and footsteps sounded in the hallway. "You might wanna hurry, though."

At least now she was pointing the gun away from him. And the redhead didn’t seemed at all bothered by his appearance - the mask and his powers seemed to barely phase her, which worked in his favor as far as now ruffling any feathers went. Chairoscuro winced as the sharp crack! of the glass case echoed through the air once, then twice, before it seemed to satisfy Sheba. The sudden use of shadows made the hair on the back of his neck stood up; it was a surprise seeing someone else use shadows like that. Was that why she didn’t like his light? He never had a problem with it, but if she could only control shadows, it made a kind of sense she wouldn’t like light.
He only had a moment to wonder at Sheba using her powers before she fished the jewels she’d been after out of the case - and then turned and shot the case in front of him, the bullet whistling by so quickly he didn’t even have time to flinch at the crack of the gunshot. The shattered glass spilled over the inside of the case, the bullet embedded in the wall behind it. That was one way to do it. “...Thanks.” Cyril said, weakly, the feeling of his heartbeat thrumming through him after such a close shave with a bullet making him feel abnormally faint. He’d never been more grateful for the lack of heroes who used guns.
The sound of heavy footsteps and an alarm in the hall had his gloved hands digging in for the jewels and things on his list...and maybe a little extra. Shoving the bunch of it into his pouch, Chairoscuro zipped it back up quickly, glancing at the door and tensing as the footsteps grew closer - now raised voices could be heard, dimly, over the blaring klaxons. “I guess I owe you one - need help getting out of here?” He grinned as he offered Sheba help, aiming for charming and/or rogue-ish - dazzling would do as well. She wasn’t bad looking, he mused, and clever - and her powers were something he wanted to look into, too. Couldn’t do that with either of them in jail.
And there was such a thing as honor among thieves...as long as she didn’t get between him and his money. CYRIL KIRABO @sheba
