She - missed? Changeling snarled as her claws swiped air, not flesh, shifting as she made the outraged noise, the resulting vocal fry something that would have given any scientist interested in studying shifting absolute fits. Luckily for them, however, it was only the red furred villainess and the off-the-clock demi-villain on that rooftop to witness Nella’s narrow escape. The shame of her prey eluding her still rankled, however, and Athena was determined to set it to rights. She would just have to put a little more muscle behind her claws in human form to get the same effect, but the blood always tasted a little different in every form she used. Oh, well. She’d just have to make do.
The prick of the knife against her neck drew the shape shifter up short. She could have shifted and gotten away before the girl had a chance to drive it home, but...there was always the chance that she couldn’t, too. Athena decided she didn’t want to add more scars to her collection and stilled, kneeling over ‘Nella’s’ small frame. At the talk of her scars, Changeling glanced at her scarred shoulder; who else had lightening scars like hers? Unless Tinker had a double in this world, too. Just the thought of two of the smart mouthed hero was enough to give Athena regrets. This was getting more interesting by the word. Her grin revealed teeth sharper than any naturally occuring in humans, if Rena cared to look at them when Changeling showed them off.
“Aura, huh? So you aren’t just some jumped up little human with a big mouth. You could even prove useful.” The villainess eyed Nella with an air of imperiousness. “I suppose you’re interesting enough to keep alive,” her tone indicated that it was all her idea, and nothing to do with the knife to her jugular. She was glad that at least now she knew that she was, indeed, in another world; it was still a little shocking, but something that happened with some frequency in her world. She’d heard stories of her father’s generation of villains and those before him universe-hopping; it was just unfortunate that the Teen Tyrants had been dumped in this...mirror universe without warning.
“Now, tell me what you mean. I don’t know how I got here, and I’m the only me I know.” Changeling demanded.words: 393 | tagged: Shei

'Nella lay on the ground, though didn't try to escape the hold. They had each other at the mexican standoff, usually a good spot to talk. High tension talks were usually pretty fun, though, given the short notice and unamused attitude, made it a little harder than usual to have a high stakes game. Oh well, just a high stakes talk this time instead.
"oh god, it's worse than the original model." Even in a foul mood, Nella found it hard to not make a comment that could only be described in tone, as snarky. Maybe not the best decision, to taunt the angry red furvert. Luckily, only few have ever accused the skinny wannabe emo of making the greatest decisions. "didn't think that was possible." Continuing on that poor line of thought, she could hardly help to add another insult.
It was hard not to insult the red furred. After all, she wore the face of... well it's not like 'Thena was her best friend or anything, but 'Thena had been her favourite person to torment for the longest times. Good times.. Good, mind scarring times. This red girl though, lacked the charming little heartfelt sobs of the leen green former teen machine.
Nella couldn't help but let a hint of amusement cross her features. This girl honestly thought she was intimidating. She'd seen real monsters, and they didn't have terrible fur colour. Well, most of them anyways. Funny enough tough, a couple of them wore gaudy cloaks. "Answer my questions." She ordered, turning the knife to a better position to slide between her ribs should the need arise.

A standoff. Usually, in her own world, when things rolled to a stop while she was facing off against someone, Changeling would have no compunctions about trying to take a bite out of her opponent to get things moving again and break the stalemate. The heroes of her universe learned to keep out of range rather quickly, with scars and the occasional missing finger to show their learning curve. With a knife pressed against her ribs, however, it was another story - despite the minor healing she would get from shifting to an animal and back that took care of minor aches and light bruises, a knife between the ribs wasn't something The Red could heal.
Nella's remarks about 'the original model', and her earlier questions and surprise, helped Athena put two and two together - in this case, it bizarrely equaled five. The original model - she had another...her? That would explain the giant T in the bay, so much like the one at home. It was visible from almost everywhere in Jump City, and being in the heart of the city as they were, one could glance at the skyline and take in the unmistakable shape of the Tower. Questions burned in the shape shifters' mind about her alternate self, and her team - she had a team, didn't she? Another set of Tyrants? Clearly less intimidating, if the girl under her was anyone to go by.
But if she wanted answers, it was clear she had to offer some of her own first. The thought rankled her pride, but what could she do? "I don't know how I got here - this isn't my home. Things are different. The bank is in one piece, even though I know we'd busted it down to rubble last week. The hotdog cart isn't in the right place, either, and you - I don't recognize you. I'm sure if there was something as annoying as you in my world, I'd have killed them by now." That wasn't entirely true. Nella did seem familiar, in an annoying sort of way. The snarky comments, the quick, rapid-fire movements... But she didn't have any powers, clearly, or nothing connected to fighting. No lightning. She wasn't a flyer - their fight would have gone differently if she had powers at her beck and call, Changeling was sure. Who wouldn't use the powers they had?
It was another mystery to wonder about. Maybe, if she ever connected to her team in this alternate world, they could hunt down the black-haired quipper and make her talk again. But right now, she had other things to do first - like getting that knife away from her side.words: 442 | tagged: Shei
