Mjolh cocked her jaw to the side then shook her head once; "No, you are free to live where and how you see fit, so long as you are not endangering the secret's of our people, however..." she tailed off as she lowered her hands to her sides and then hooked her thumbs into the back pockets of her well fit jeans; "I would hope that you could understand my position given this cities reputation. We abandoned protecting it fifty years ago, with a reason, and our treaty with the powers that be holds that we must police ourselves more closely here than in other places where we enjoy more... freedom." she blinked slowly, her eyes wandering back to the front door, before returning to his gaze.
He was puzzling, in his defiance, yet cunning in his presenting of it. Legally, she could do little to him based on what sparse information she had at this time. He was hardly breaking the law or any known agreement, but he was also showing a surprising level of detachment & defiance to a Sheriff in her position. And she knew there was a reason, for it, just as there was a reason for his eyes to be so tired and hard. He was a solider, a warrior no doubt, but how had he become so hardened, and worse still, so adept at hiding it? And all of that still did not give her any answers or ideas as to the actual boy she was looking for to start with. It disquieted her sense of calm to think that she had stumbled over him so readily, without any prior warning or indications from her contacts.
"I cannot say with clarity that I can trust you at this point, but by the same coin, I also cannot say that you are any sort of threat." she inclined her head to him, her eyes sharp and clear as she spoke; "But that is your own reticence to which we may lay blame for my uncertainty upon." she reached a long and delicate looking finger into her hip pocket, and flicked a sturdy business card out and across the room onto the counter next to his stove, where it spun to a stop next to the edge her name and a list of contact points listed below where embossed clearly and finely. "As it stands, I clearly have another young buck to hunt up, and as you are unlikely to help me with that, I will bid you a fine day, and leave the door to further exchanges between us as open." she gave him another knowing smile as she turned for the door; "Unless of course you have anything else you want to address?" she paused at the door and looked at him over her shoulder, her eyes boring into his as she tried vainly to decipher the marks within his eyes...
