Exploding Toaster {Open}

[Athena 'Shift' Logan]

It was a well known fact among the Teen Titans - and her blood family - that Athena Logan, aka Shift, was all thumbs when it came to electronic or mechanical things. Her brother, Nero, was a complete genius with all sorts of gadgets. It irritated Shift that he could build a laser out of a spark plug and few spare parts while if she even tried to make toast she usually a.) burnt the toast to a black crisp, and b.) made the toaster explode.

Which is exactly the reason she was waiting on the business side of a service counter inside Tobi's, imploded toaster (sans crispy toast) in a box on said counter. She would have gone to her brother, but Athena had too much pride for that, and wouldn't have appreciated the interrigation that would have taken place. She also would have just tossed the toasted out and bought a new one but for the fact that she didn't know where one could buy a toaster.

Well, okay, she did, but if anyone asked she was going to tell them that instead of the fact that she just didn't want to be oggled at in a large, public store. If she got oggled at in Tobi's - well, it was a personally-owned business, and next time something with gears self-destructed around her she could just ask another Titan to go get a replacement.

"Hello?", the peirced Titan called, leaning part of the way over the counter, not aware that she might be drawing stares because of her fur, color, or the fact that she was wearing spandex and stretching it.

Domino had not meant to destroy her motorcycle. She had been speeding, trying to track down the infamous Titans, when her bike had slipped on black ice, sending it spinning before barreling through a building. She had managed to leap off the blasted thing before hand, so she was unscathed. She had to gather up what pieces had fell and the bike itself, tugging it towards the building called Tobi’s Garage. She needed it mended before she could go on to tracking those infidels again.

Even so, she hadn’t known Athena Logan, the Titan leader, was standing in there as well. Domino had a dislike about the green-skinned heroine, much like Athena had against her; Domino was certain, at least. When she had wandered into the building, dragging the bike by its handlebars and placing it against the walls, she had spotted the green female. She kept quiet at the moment, pulling down her leather jacket while thinking of what to do.

Athena humphed to herself as nobody came up to he counter. Whistling some randomly stuck-in-her-head song to herself, the Titan stepped away from the counter (wishing for one of those old-fashioned bell things so she could hit it and at least amuse herself) Athena glanced around again. Seeing a total of zero employees lazing around, she tapped the top of her toaster-filled box and leaned against a nearby, waist-high wall.

And that was when her eyes fell upon Domino. A blank look passed over the Teen Titans' face as she tried to place the familiar-looking humanoid robot. As with most people-who-had-screwed-her-over, Athena recognized Domino after searching her memories from a while ago. Cyborg had offered someone (or something depending on how you looked at it and her) to help the Titans. That thing had been Domino, who had never shown up and who had also wreaked some major havoc on Victors' work station.

"Well.", Athena said, voice like chipped ice - and not in a pleasantly melting way. "Never though I'd see you again."

Domino chuckled from her distance. The robotic female had kept to herself, not inching nor moving towards the Titan as she closed her eyes. Before long, those amber eyes peered over at the leader, the smirk still twisted upon her face like an angered rag doll that hasn’t been played with for years. She tapped her fingers upon her arm and tossed her bangs from her face. “Athena Logan.” She mused. “Pleasant surprise,” She crossed her ankles as she leaned against the wall and chuckled some more.

It was amazing to see such a humble face turn to ice. Athena was a lovely girl, and even if robots couldn’t “love,” Domino had always felt a slight bit of compassion and emotion for the girl. The short-haired female was still unsure of her so-called “crush,” and kept far from her as possible. Or so long as she could. She twisted a sheet of her bangs in her finger, watching the Titan carefully. She was a beautiful creature. Dangerous, trustworthy from what it seemed; not to mention rather intelligent.

Much better then half the males in Jump, after all. She removed her hand from her hair and looked down at her feet. Should she engage in more conversation? Domino thought not. She should wait.

Athena had heard it was harder to lie to someone you found attractive. Domino...well, if the Titan was honest with herself, was very attractive. The superheroine assumed, however, that she would be like Rowan and turn her down if she hit on the other girl. 'Unlucky in love' did not start to describe what the shape shifter considered herself as. But her voice still softened a little, the other teen's nuetral stance and tone helping her along the way.

'It would be dangerous to start a fight in here.', Shift told herself. 'There are innocents in here...er, somewhere. And it's not like she's doing anything illegal. Domino came in here to get her bike fixed, like my toaster.', she added, mentally convincing herself that that was the reason she wasn't shifting and pulling a fast one on the android. Yeah, that was it. Plus, they might not fix her toaster if she destroyed their shop, and that was what she had come in for in the first place.

The Titan shrugged as Domino chuckled, one boot-clad foot against the wall while the other pressed on the floor. Shift's eyes studied the short-haired nuetral party through her lashes as she spoke. "Yeah, well. I need to get my -" 'Don't say toaster, for the love of God!' " - uh, thing fixed."

Domino pursed her lips, arching a brow with a slight hum. “I see.” She pointed out, eyeing the box. She wasn’t quite sure of what to do, nor of what to say to the Titan. She kept herself quiet, and shifted slightly from the other girl as she turned to look at the scenery before her. She couldn’t stand the mess inside of the garage; she couldn’t stand much of anything. Domino’s nose crinkled slightly before turning back to the front desk. No one had been coming, yet she heard the squeals and giggles of a female and a slight laugh from a male in the back room.

When the male had entered, he eyed the two before smiling and waving. “What can I get you?” He looked from Domino, to Athena, then back to her. Domino smiled and pointed at Athena.

“My friend here needs her… Thing fixed. And my bike needs work too.” She leaned over the counter and looked him in the eyes. Her eyes flashed slightly as the camera clicked silently. “Mister Riley Johnson, if you don’t mind, work on hers first bub.”

Surprised by this action as much as the man - Riley - was, Athena cast Domino a bewildered look before returning her attention to the matter at hand. She could ask Cyborg later just what Domino could do, although the shape shifter already knew the basics -- that her short haired supposed-to-be-teammate was cybertronic, had very much a mind of her own, and could probably name every single person in the city...Including the masked ones, which was where Shift's loyalties to her teams' safety came into play.

'I'll ask her about it later - though I doubt she'll answer.', the Titan decided, smiling breifly and nodding to the clerk, noting that the girl had stayed in the back room when he came out. "I need this put back together, please.", Athena said, noting the way his eyes drifted from her clothes, fur, peircings and then to her eyes. She pushed the box towards him, giving it a pointed look. "It was a toaster.", she added, before trying to explain rather awkwardly. "And...it blew up."

She noticed his expression; somewhere between confusion, surprise and amusement, and guessed that the same expression was probably running over Dominos' face as well. He peered inside said box, opening the cardboard flaps cautiously. "But it's not radioactive or anything, don't worry.", the teenager added, biting the non-peirced edge of her bottom lip to hide a smile and the 'I think' that had almost slipped out.

A girl with short auburn hair poked her head around the corner of the front door, "Hey Riley what do we have here today?" she asked as she sashayed into the room with her backpack slung over her shoulder. She gave shift and Domino a whatever look and walked around them, "So this was what exactly?" she said pointing to the toaster has been and glancing down at it with a raised eyebrow.

She looked back up at the green shape shifter and waited for an answer with a stereotypical teenager look on her face. The now green streak of hair didn't help to deter that image much either. She never did try to stop that image from showing and she probably wouldn't for a while.

"It was a toaster.", Athena answered curtly, returning Carrie's look with some added venom. She got enough crap from superpower bad guys trying to hurt her team and take over the city - she really didn't need any more from some chick who thought she was tough because she worked in a garage. Hip to one side, the green Titan crossed her arms under her chest and glanced over at the silent Riley, who was already heading into the back room again. Obviously not the kind of guy to stick around when customers got a little edgy.

Light green eyes wandered over Carries' figure, noting the green streak in her hair. Green? 'That's new. Most people I've seen have got red in their hair.', the Titan leader thought to herself. 'Although most of them are either aliens or the red streak is blood, so...'

Carrie raised an eyebrow at the glare she was receiving from the girl in spandex. She got hell from her father and wished she didn't have to deal with these super's. "Well." she said sarcastically, "You want a new one, or do you want me to attempt to salvage parts out of that thing?" she asked poking the toaster with the pen in her hand to see if it would spontaneously combust. She turned her eyes back to where Riley and his what girl was he on this week? She sighed and glanced around and rolled her eyes. He knew perfectly well that she specialized in anything electronic. Most other things were for other people to deal with.

She tapped the keyboard quickly and then looked up what she thought was the name on hopefully what used to be a label for the toaster and turned the screen around to face Shift. "This is the make right?" she asked as she glanced at the superheroine.
