Hidden in the Shadows

Athena grunted; whether it was in agreement or just to get Serenity to stop talking was up for grabs, because the highly annoyed Titan didn't even know. If Xavier hadn't dissapeared like he had, she would have been out the window and after him, with one teammate stuck in the wall or not. It was one of Shift's downfalls as a heroine; her temper. It was hard to get going, but when it did...well, the girl could get violent and single-minded. Not to mention the fact that she held grudges that clouded her common sense; Rena, Domino...

Steeling her muscles, the shape shifter crouched slightly and shook herself like a wet dog, shards of glass flying everywhere. None were bigger than a sliver by then - what with her rolling and shifting and being thrown on the floor and all - but it wouldn't be pleasant getting hit by one, either. Shift was sure she hadn't gotten all of them out, either; that would take time, patience, tweezers, and possibly even someone else to do some of the work on her back side.

"Jeez, I'm glad I stayed off the ground that whole time." Green dropped down, stopping about two feet from the ground, upside down. Vines wrapped around one leg. He was right where Xavier was standing before he had dissappeared, apparently waiting to ambush. "Pretty silly how noone bothers to look up anymore. Too bad he dissappeared... I had him right where I wanted him." The trap was to get him to move towards Irazehls ambush, or in the least wound him.
Green holstered both sets of nunchaku, and began to scoop up an assortment of throwing weapons involved in his trap. "At least we stopped him from doing what he was here to do... unless it involved breaking beakers. How are you holding up, guys?"

Athena grunted again, although this time it sounded a bit more like 'fine' than anything more or less ambigous. She glanced over at Serenity, who still looked shocked - and she probably was. the Titans fought all kinds of weird people, but most of them didn't have the power to stick you in the wall and leave you there. Then her eyes traveled back to Green, who - as far as she could tell, since he had that mask on - was only dissapointed, and maybe a little annoyed.

He wasn't - and most people weren't, for that matter - as determined to catch the bad guys as Shift. And the shape shifter knew that, and knew it was another thing that made her different from her teammates. But the peirced Titan couldn't help it. Most of the bad guys went out their way to piss off the team leader, and as such she took it to heart which was probably something that Athena shouldn't have done. It turned foes into actual enemies, the kind that would start a fight if they saw you on the street.

Just then, Gamma apeared in the room. He was sitting, his shadowy tail leaving a trail as it waved slowlt back and forth. A green ball was in it's mouth. He threw it over at the group and vanished. A hologram apeared from a little light in the sphere, showing Xavier. "Hmm. That was fun. But maybe next time you might be able to stop me!" he said, laughing. Then his picture dissappeared.

Serenity glared at the retreating black cat, "I don't like him." she said finally and pushed herself up off the ground avoiding the scattered glass with the grace of someone who knew exactly where she was going beforehand. Her hair was all out of the wall but she still would probably be sleeping in a tent outside for a week.

Sorina finally made it back in time to hear that comment, "So is that because he's ugly or because he left you in a wall?" she asked sarcasticly and ruffled her feathers, "Or is it because you were scared for my sake and his evil cat was about to bite my head off?" she asked irritably.

The blond turned her emerald eyes to the dove's black ones, "Oh shut up." she grumbled and walked over to Athena, "You want help with that?" she asked knowing that Athena would probably do more harm then good on her own.[/size]

Xavier was standing in the dark alley. Gamma jumped out from the shadows and walked in a circle around the boy's feet. "So, why'd you let that girl go? Hmm?" Xavier looked down at the cat. "Uhh....no reason." The cat purred in amusement. "You meant it when you said she was cute." It grinned as it dodged his kick. "Did not! Now shut up."

Shift turned to answer Serenity, angered and egged on - against her own commn sense telling her that Xavier was just rying to bug her - and paused. She had been going to tell Serenity no, she didn't need help, but...Well, look where it had gotten her so far. Nowhere. She still couldn't even take down Rena by herself, and she was someone the shape shifter had known personally.

"I - yeah. I'm going to get the other Titans to help, too. I think we'll need it.", answered the peirced shape shifter, ooking from her blonde freind to her mask-wearing, plant manipulating teammate on the other side of the room. he was quiet on the subject so far - and she had the feelinhg that he wouldn't have been if she had declined help.

Serenity smiled and nodded thinking about what Athena had just said, in agreeing to let her help the Titans out this time and walked over so she was looking at the green teen's shoulder. "Your probably going to want to go to a doctor for this shoulder." she said with a sigh and glanced over at green wondering if he also had some wonder cure for glass slivers.[/size]

Green had been scratching his chin as he silently complained of needing a shave. He was having difficulty strategizing and beleiving the problem to be the bloodrush from hanging upside down, he retracted the vines, which released his leg. As the blood rush to his head subsided, his attention went again to his teammates, primarily Athena.
"It's not really bleeding that bad, but I can whip up some herbs to reduce pain." If the bleeding worsened, he couldn't do much about it other than basic first aid.

"Now this...erm..." Greens eyes shifted as he realized he never got the perps name "...shadowy character is a thingyy one. Although he clearly retreated, he probably beleives he somehow won this fight. My experience tells me that overly confident fighters almost always come back for seconds, and when he does, we will know what to expect."
On to his concerns with Seenity.
"Serenity, you were way off your mark with that knife. Unless you were aiming for where he was going to be, I can give you lessons."

Shift waved away any suggestions of her needing medicine. "I'm fine.", she protested. It hurt, sure, but she'd had worse. Besides, it would embarresing to go to the hospital and have to explain she'd gotten the crap beat out of her by some guy and his cat. "I just need to get all this stupid glass out of my fur and I'll be fine, maybe wrap up my shoulder or something.", the shape shifter said, rubbing the bridge of her nose and leaving a smear of blood her face, hand clenching in pain when said action aggrivated her wound.

"And my hand. Defineatly my hand.", she added, making a face as she looked at it. The large shard she'd had stuck in there in the first place had made a gash across half of her palm, and being thrown across the room and fighting Xavier again hadn't helped it any - if anything, the gash looked bigger and bloodier.
