Shift shrugged, rolling her eyes. "I asked him that once, and he told me meeting my mother." The shape shifter made a face, complimenting her eye-rolling earlier. "He's hopeless, and my mom's just as mushy as he is. I think my brother inherited it, too - he's always falling for the absolute worst chicks and thinks the whole thing is 'romantic'.", Athena groused good-naturedly. She really didn't mind - heck, she wasn't quite as cold-hearted and realistic as she wanted people to beleive.

"What about, ah, Dan?", the heroine asked, figuring that Dan was the professor that Carrie had mentioned earlier - either that or her boyfreind. Even a rock could have heard the warmth in the mechanics' voice when she talked about the (Athena assumed) tall dark and handsome man.

Carrie laughed to herself trying to imagine her professor flirting with anyone, "Well the only think I can see him flirting with is his computer." she laughed and rolled her eyes at the thought. She felt an ironic smile cross her face as she realized she was probably exactly the same way.

"Either that or his calculator." she joked and winced slightly as she pulled her arm. That was going to be very annoying until she got it fixed back up.

"That tower you live in can't be much better with a bunch of teenagers." she pointed out knowing exactly what high school was like. Drama city.

At the mention of her surrogste family - which could be, at the same time both as annoying and as lovable as a real family, maybe moreso - the shape shifter scrunched her face. "Oh, boy, you do not know the half of it.", she said, acting dramatic for the sake of - well, of fun. "What school I remember is bad enough - and my teammates all have powers, too, which only makes things worse when they start going downhill!"

Her light green-brown eyes noticed Carrie wincing again - she had been doing that alot, and it was starting to get worrisome. Unsure of what was wrong, the Titan sat back in her chair, hands in her lap and tugged at the hem of her shirt absently. "Are you okay? I'm sorry if I'm bugging you with all of this...", Athena said and asked, rotating one hand in a gesture at herself and her blathering.

Carrie shook her head and let a smile flash across her face for a moment, "Nothing that I can't handle." she said with a shake of her head, "It's just an acid burn." she said and gestured at her arm. She hoped that she could at least downplay her injuries, "And no it's fine, but really that tower of yours has to be nuts sometimes." she said drawing attention away from herself.

She didn't want to look weak in front of anyone. That usually meant that you weren't on the receiving end of whatever torture she might be put through next. This was one of her safe places and she didn't want it to be tinted with hatred and fear like many of the places her father had managed to destroy in her life.

Although the shape shifter could be pig headed about some things - like fighting, namely - she could recognize something of herself in someone else. Like not wanting to talk about things; like the fact that they could actually get hurt. So the Titan only nodded as Carrie hand waved the situation away, the same way she had brushed off her own injuries.

"Mm. Yeah, well - it can get pretty insane.", Shift admitted, looking towards the nurses' desk as her name was called to see the doctor. "But I guess you'll have to hear about it later.", she said with a small laugh, standing and nodding to the nurse.

Carrie nodded and smiled at the girl that all of the reporters made out to be some pig headed teenager who liked playing around as a hero, but then again the papers also gave starwars three one star so they must be nuts. "Yeah see you later." she said with a smile.

The nurse smiled at Carrie as she glanced over to where the green teen was standing up from. They always loved to see a familiar face around.
