"Huh.", Shift said, a grin on her furry face as she noticed carrie blushing slightly as she related her story. That would have been so weird - not to mention embarresing on a whole new level of weirdness. "Well, why didn't they try to get all of the air out of the bottle - like glue?", the ahape shifter quieried, deciding to lay aside the all-too-obvious teasing possibilties in luie of getting her question answered, and avoiding another bout of the short-haired civilians' glares.

Carrie raised an eyebrow, "Well number one if we knew how we did it we would repeat the process and two it dries to fast. Like super... super glue...." she said trying to make her last words sound better than they came out as. And failed miserably. The thought was kind of scary to her as she liked pulling professional pranks when she had the time, which wasn't very often but it was really funny to watch the police run around in circles. "By the time you've aired it out or even created the stuff it's adhered to whatever it's touched and held it together." her grammar sucked but as she was a science major she could get away with it. "Plus as it was created by a bunch of smashing vials...." she said waving her hand to emphasize her point but winced when she agravitated her acid burn.

Although Shift was, by no means, able to understand the intricacies of making the 'super' super glue, as Carrie had termed it, she did get the general gist of what the other girl was trying to explain. Mostly because she was speaking in laymans' terms and not going into the genetic structure of the glue, or whatever it was sceintists and chemists talked about. That stuff always made the heroines' head spin.

So the shape shifter nodded and made a face at the explination. "That must suck, not being able to sell your stuff.", the green teen sympathized as best she could, looking a little worried and wary as Carrie flinched when she flapped her hand. 'Maybe she is in here for something?', though the peirced leader to herself.

Carrie laughed and pulled at her jacket with her left hand. "Well it was worse as I had to redo my final project for the class," she said with a roll of her eyes, "But my teacher was the one stuck to me so he gave me extra time." she said and smiled sadly as she shrugged a shoulder. Dan would forever be a total dork. Which was why they were really good friends.

Shift nodded, her posture changing a little bit as their talk drifted out of things she knew about - like injuries, and hospitals, and weird and/or embarresing things happening. Professors, classes, exams - what did she know of those? She remember having class when she was little, before her dads' old disease rilled up inside of her, but the memories were dim, distant, and made confusing by time.

"I wouldn't know about that.", the seventeen year old said, glancing at her boots for a moment, and rare thing for the usually bossy, front-and-center Teen Titan. "I take classes online; before that, I was homeschooled mostly." Shift shrugged, mostly to herself. 'Hope I won't regret this later. If she turns out to be evil or something, knowing my luck.', the shape shifter thought to herself, glancing back over at Carrie.

Carrie glanced over at the rest of the room deciding how many people would have to go in before they could get out of the very uncomfortable hospital chairs. She sighed as she realized that they were almost up and turned back to The teen titan. She never realized how much it must suck to have green fur and a reputation all of the time to uphold, "That must be boring. I loved school, it got me out of the house." she said with a shrug and winced as she glared down at her arm, this was seriously getting annoying.

School had always been a great escape for the brown eyed tech-head. Nothing she could do could keep her there long enough, that and she was also just thinking of ways to avoid her father and what better way then to through yourself into school. Of course there were then all of the nerd comments and such but she really didn't mind much as long as she got out of hanging out at home.

Athena smiled, shrugging. "It was alright. My brother probably would have got on my nerves, but he still went to public school then, so I didn't see him much.", the Titan answered flippantly. It didn't matter, her telling these things to Carrie - who was she going to tell, anyways? And in that matter, who would care if she did tell them? "I got under my moms' skin sometimes, though.", she added with a soft laugh.

Thinking of her parents, she shot Carrie an odd look, out of the corner of her eye. "What about your folks? Do they live in town?", Shift asked with a tilt in her head, the various peircings on her head and ears leaning slightly. She was careful not to jostle her shoulder or hand, especially the one wrapped in gauze - a quick job that Serenity had done at the Tower before sending her over to the hospital for 'the professionals to deal with'.

Carrie glanced down and rubbed her acid burn through her jacket welcoming the cool feel of her skin against the burn of the acid, "Well," she started off slow she wasn't sure how much to tell the heroine, "The general got called to bug another military base and my mom was probably dead ages ago... or she could be alive, never did find out who she was." she said slowly. Aw hell she sounded like someone who wanted their life to end then and there, but she did like Dan and screwing around with anything that she could manage to get her hands on. That was a plus in life.

Shift winced, trying to backpedal quickly while still being sympathetic. She didn't think Carrie was going to cry - she didn't look the type to just up and start blubbering - but the shape shifter hated it when people cried; she never knew what to do and it was one of her biggest weaknesses. "I'm sorry.", the Teen Titan said, one hand - ungloved, for once, and the one that wasn't wrapped in gauze - setting apologetically on Carrie's knee.

"Whenever I saw my dad in uniform, it was weird.", the teenager said, trying to lighten the mood. Not that the green, mutli-peirced heroine had ever been good with jokes; too serious. "Everyone else saw a superhero; all I saw was my dad." Shift paused and made a face. "In tights."

Carrie smiled sadly at Athena and snorted quietly, "Yeah I bet that was weird, I'd rather not picture my dad in tights," she shuddered lightly at the thought of it, he would probably be a supervillain if he did wear spandex. Not a pretty picture, "But Danny boy on the other hand." she said thinking about her best friend for a moment, "Oh yeah that is hilarious." she said with a grin on her face, "He'd probably trip over them." she explained with a grin.

She felt the superhero's hand on her leg and thought about shrugging it off for a moment, but decided that she liked the comfort of another female for a change rather than the brotherly love she usually got from Dan. It was a good change, "So what else happened with your dad in tights?" she asked her voice slowly returning to it's snarky tones.
