. . TAGGED: Every hero, Titan, YJ, and RD member. Half the member-list!OUTFIT:Check it~WORDS: 500 | You held out a paper rose The air was cold and crisp - not too bad for the tail-end of October, Shift thought. Not too cold for everyone out that night - which included a metric ton of the superheroes that made Jump City their home, permanent or not. They'd decided to host a Halloween party at the Tower - just heroes, and their significant others, if they managed to keep any long enough to invite to come. The theme of the night was - aptly - 'heroes', and even though there was no end of a list for her to choose from, Shift had decided to go a different route, sticking with a 'classic' of horror films and noir; she'd picked the 'werewolf' theme in a way that only shape shifters' could really pull off.
So the Titan padded on calloused paws through the hallway into the living room, jumping onto the couch easily to better look around. There were a few Titans and heroes already there; mostly the ones that lived in the Tower, but some of the others had come over early, too. Costumes varied from 'threw on mis-matched pieces borrowed from another superhero' to 'outstanding'. Athena assumed she wasn't going to be winning any awards; she'd cheated on the whole 'hero' theme, for one thing, and her costume was less of a costume and more the brash misuse of her powers. Then again, she couldn't really do a whole lot of damage to anything as a wolf as long as she was careful of her claws, so -- the couch would probably survive the night, Athena assumed.
Since the Titans were hosting the party, and she was the head of the West group, that meant she would at some point probably be forced to talk to someone, so her human form had dressed accordingly for the holiday - all black. Orange clashed atrociously with her greenness, so black-on-black, while not exactly the height of non-Gothic fashion, was her standby. A lacey crop top and torn black leggings was what the Titan had scrounged up - more skin than she usually showed, something that made the spunky Titan a bit nervous, although the strapped and buckled boots she'd bought to go with it made her feel more at-ease. And, of course, she had the usual communicator strapped to her belt; once she'd gotten a new one after the water fiasco, Shift rarely went anywhere without it -- helped along by the (mostly benign) teasing of her teammates.
At the moment, nobody could see that - she was a wolf, sleek and green-black, whitish green tufts in lighter places. Pulling herself onto her haunches on the sofa, the Titan balanced with her fore-paws on the back of the sofa, leaving her tail free to wag lazily over the edge as she surveyed the new arrivals. Streamers and decorations blocked part of the room - cotton spiderwebs and orange-and-black streamers, plus some helium-filled balloons and whatever else the volunteering Titans wanted to put up - made visibility a little low, but it was all in good fun. made by abby of i'm so curious |

A true star is always fashionably late to a party - they keep others waiting for their arrival, so they're the talk of the party once they walk in. Chae wasn't going for that though - she couldn't possibly deprive the Titans of her presence for so long. No, she'd never do something as cruel as that - how could she possibly be considered a hero if she did. Of course, she didn't arrive in time to help set up - no, she just happened to arrive just as the set-up ended. It was too bad she couldn't find a date for the party, but still, that just meant she didn't have to feel bad for drawing all eyes to her. And so the buxom tiny woman strode in, small black performer's jacket over a lacy white corset, which of course showed off her cleavage well, with lacy black bottoms that could barely be called more than simply underwear. Her legs had elaborate and expensive fishnet over them, and black ballet flats on her feet. The performer's top hat was sitting on her long black hair that rolled down her shoulders in utter perfection. Every single bit of the outfit seemed to have been custom made for her - it fit perfectly, accentuating her body without being too tight. The performer's baton, or rather 'magic wand' in her hand was flipped between white gloved fingers quickly twisting, as quick as a practiced baton twirler, oh so well done. Zatanna, Mistress Magician had entered, and the costume was perfect in every way. She didn't know many people in the West Titans - oh, sure, Annette knew them all and tried to tell her about them, but Rainbow didn't care, learning about people through someone else was so boring. She had nodded along and pretended to care about it, and to have listened, but really it all went in one ear and straight out the other, while Chae made her plans on what to wear and how to wear it. So she stood in the room full of people she barely had heard of, and who didn't know her. That was when she spotted the wolf - it was green. While not Chae's favorite color, Green was a good color - she enjoyed when she channeled the green light, it felt safe and natural. So green was a good color, one she liked a lot. And she was always something of an animal lover, she spent so much time in her family's personal forest back home, with all kinds of animals - though never wolves. She tried to think about if Annette had warned her about their pet, but she couldn't think of anything. Wait, no, maybe...? She said something about an animal or something - oh, well, clearly the wolf was very well behaved, if it was allowed to sit on the couch at what would be such a busy party. So the tiny girl skipped her way towards the couch happily, clearing more space with each stride than would be expected. She flipped herself over onto the couch with a fluid movement, and set her wand aside as she wrapped her arms around the wolf's neck, petting it with both hands, "Oh, you are just the prettiest darling I have ever seen!" She, of course, had no idea that this green wolf was in fact 'Shift', leader of the West Titans, and not just some pet. The other titans who had been watching her were likely very amused by the girl's antics, but most of them seemed unwilling to correct her, for now. Or maybe she did know, and just was playing dumb. It had been a long time since Sai had partied. He hoped the party would have alcohol. He was underage and Athena and Annette both might get on his ass about it, but he had quickly discovered the reason why adults drank and while alcohol tasted disgusting, it worked very well when one was trying to push down some trauma and pain. And he had a lot of trauma from his past to push down. He wondered who would be attending the party - a costume party for God's sake, and he doubted he could get by with wearing his Quickshot get-up. He knew Young Justice and Rider's Deck - at least he hoped Rider's Deck wouldn't be there - probably wouldn't be attending. He didn't know why, but he'd noticed they hadn't been seen around town lately.
He didn't have much money - though apparently the dollar went farther in the States than it did as a pound back home - but he'd managed to get a costume. He had just grabbed a cop costume because he didn't want to put that much time and money into it. And if someone had a problem with it, they could kiss his rear for all he cared. Halloween reminded him of trick-or-treating with his mum and while they were pleasant memories, they just brought more pain. He vaguely wondered if he'd ever have the courage to tell his father who he was, but quickly pushed past that thought.
He walked into the tower's living room, adjusting his hat. He knew if he'd chosen something like Robin Hood, he would have been made fun of. He gave a curt nod to Shift - it was a green wolf, of course it was her - and then looked at the other girl, forcing his eyes to stay on her face. He wasn't a pig so he wasn't about to look like one.
"Who the bloody Hell are you?" he asked, giving her an odd look. New Titan maybe? It took him a second before he remembered he had other teammates aside from Annette and Naomi. He practically face-palmed. "Right. Alexandra, sorry. Shit, that won't happen again." And by that he meant he'd try not to forget who she was. He did spend a majority of his time working with Athena's team rather than his own, though he still had a strong loyalty to Annette. He felt more needed, more at home in Jump. He studied Alexandra's costume the most subtle he could manage. "What are you supposed to be? Zatanna?"

Parties were a bit of tricky subject when it came to the Stone sisters. Naomi utterly loved them as they were perfect occasions to take advantage of various people's gullibility towards her antics while they were either on high on the excitement or something else entirely. Of course, Annette highly disapproved of this sort of approach, and nearly as a rule kept away from parties due to her disabilities. Halloween though, was a different case entirely. Annette LOVED Halloween. It was by far the most creative of holidays and offered her a chance to really stretch her mental facilities in coming up with interesting costumes no one expected and on top of it, incorporated her inability to maneuver normally. This year's theme had been a tricky one to approach at first with heroes as a theme. How do you get creative with that? Any hero would be entirely predictable. So Annette had to flip the playing field, and she came up with an idea just perfect to try out a new invention on top of it all.
Annette and her ever recognizable pale brunette visage had been at the party setting before even some of the West Titans had arrived. Typical her really since if there was some work to do, she was on it. Something wasn't quite right about her though, and anyone with eyes could tell. Her eyes were large and like dinner plates and her proportions wonky and strange. She looked like she'd been cut straight out of a cartoon show. Even her wheelchair looked like a cutout floating out of place in a three-dimensional reality. There was no mistaking it was Annette though. Her voice and manners remained unchanged, soft-spoken to the point where it was hard to hear her at times.
Just around the start of the party, the other half of the Stone sisters made her appearance, never one to lend a helping hand if she could help it, she probably took Annette over and then screwed around for an hour just to avoid doing work. Oddly enough, she was just as peculiarly out of place as her sister, not sporting her traditional inhuman look and actually looking vaguely realistic. Portions of her were still obviously unnatural like her bright blue hair, metal plates on various parts of her body, her sunken eyes, and her... noticable lack of feet, but for once she could actually pass for human.
Of course, the reality was the Stone sisters had switched places. It was a little known fact, but Naomi's voice was in fact Annettes when she was younger and hadn't gone through puberty yet. (Made originally to confuse her dad as to which one of them was which.) It wasn't the way she naturally spoke anymore, but Annette could recreate it with little effort. Naomi of course being mechanical could recreate ANYONE's voice she'd heard enough of. Even Sais... She definitely hadn't taken advantage of that fact before, nope. Those lady callers were just mistaken as were those bikers who remembered him calling them big overcompensating chickens. Definitely coincidence.
Annette's big invention of course was the amazing device that was keeping her standing upright instead of needing her usual wheelchair. It wasn't visible underneath the blue jacket typically part of Naomi's costume, but a steel psuedo-spine was attached to her back, compensating for any misalignments within her bending. Unfortunately, the device could really only last a couple hours before starting to make mistakes and Annette would have to recalibrate it to avoid some serious pain, but it was perfect for short occasions like this. She hoped to perfect the device sometime this year though to the point it only needs monthly recalibration, but that would take some serious work that just wouldn't be possible while also leading the East Titans.
A big part of what made Annette's costumes so wild was her great tendency to get into the acting portion of it, frequently roping Naomi into her antics as well. It was the one night of the year where arguably Annette was more mischievous than her mechanical sister. Made one realize where Naomi gets her attitude from in the first place. Upon seeing Sai come in, Naomi glanced at him, already going a mile a minute on the horrible pranks she could pull on him tonight, but just as they started, she held back. She was Annette tonight, and Annette doesn't prank-
She couldn't even finish the thought as she caught sight Annette sneaking up behind Sai and quickly making an attempt to handcuff him to himself. "Oh dear..." Naomi thought to herself, her THOUGHTS even sounding like Annette's voice. It occurred to her now that Annette was going to take this switch as absolutely far as she could. It was like a guy getting to see what it's like to be a girl from a day, she was going to see what it was like to be well... Naomi. Able to walk, prank, and otherwise cause complete and utter havoc. This Halloween was going to be one that would be hard to forget...

To say Serenity had helped put up decorations would be a lie, to say she started getting ready for the cleanup that would occur later was more accurate. Parties always tended to create a tornado effect upon the venue. Superhero's parties well they tended to be crazier then most. Especially the parties thrown by the younger teams, hormones and superpowers were not two of Serenity's favorite things. Especially when she was the only person guaranteed to be sober come the next day. Her other contribution to the party was to judge the costume contest. The trophy was already engraved, she had seen who would win beforehand her powers made things easier that way. She flipped her long braided wig back behind her back and took a sip of the currently unspiked punch, she had put a case of mountain dew in the refrigerator for that time when the punch was no longer safe to drink. Yes sometimes she was slightly jealous of the other hero's in the room who could get away with drinking but her abilities really did get the better of her if she ever did. She liked being able to tell what was happening now and not ten minutes from now and if someone she was talking to or would be talking to was dead or alive. Sorina snorted as she spotted Chae's entrance into the party, she didn't have to see the future to know that this would be one of the most entertaining things of the night. It seemed not every Hero knew to avoid petting the green animals, while yes some hero's did have pets not to many were green unless they happened to be a shapeshifter. "Yeah that is going to be very entertaining," Serenity grinned at the bird and they finally made their way into the major party area. Serenity had managed to get her hands on a second hand Leia slave costume strapy heals and all. No she wasn't strictly a superhero but she was a hero in a major franchise, plus she looked rather good in it so she didn't mind breaking the rules to much. Her leather boots made little sound on the floor as she approached the wheelchair bound Naomi, pointing at the unfolding drama in front of them, "Well she seems to be having fun this evening." She glanced down at the android with a grin. These two did have a rather brilliant costume idea playing themselves off as the other. In Serenity's case that would not have been such a great idea, dressing up as a dove would be rather strange. . . TAGGED: @kittyempress, @sai, @portiagordon, @reni MUSIC:AlcoholWORDS: 340 | You held out a paper rose Athena was entirely willing to be petted - for a minute or two. Later on, she'd probably just blame it on the jello shooters (appropriately a startlingly bright orange color) that she'd had when the party set-up had been completed. That would be a lie, but she had had some of them...and Athena was pretty sure nobody was going to hassle her too much. Not when she had costume blackmail on them, and revenge was fair play, after all! Of course, then Sai came wandering over, looking just as amused as she'd thought he might be. Her tail wagged lazily, before disappearing - along with the rest of her canine features, though the fur and some sharper-than-usual teeth remained.
"Of course she's Zatanna, Quick, who else wears all that -" her eyes did not jump down to the chest-area of Chae pressing almost into her face, they most certainly did not, she'd never oogle a teammate, especially one so much younger - "- all that lace and fishnet?" She grinned, an easy expression that rarely saw such use on her face. "Nice hat." Of course, she could see Annette - Naomi? Well, that was interesting, she'd have to ask about that sometime later that night - sneaking up behind him, but couldn't quite tell what the other hero was trying to do. Might as well help a fellow leader out, after all, right? It was all in good fun, and she so rarely got to see the other Titan - much less see her looking so much at peace. Or maybe that was just the prank face she had on, Athena wasn't certain. Her eyes flicked back from the archer-cop to the magically-tuned Lantern-esque East heroine. Shift winked, extending one glove-clad had to Chae. It was her usual pair of gloves - faux leather, of course, and worn, covering up her unusual hands well enough - so she didn't think anything of it. "I'm Shift. Uh, Athena, off the field. Nice to meet you --" The Titan glanced as Sai, clearly cottoning on to what name he'd used. "- Alexandra?"

Chae didn't seem to mind the man's attentions or gaze as he walked over, giggling softly as he quickly averted it right back up to her face. She knew exactly what would happen when she chose the outfit - indeed it was part of why she did, though the fact that her rainbow powers fit well with pretending to do magic tricks was a close second. But then he spoke, and she was quickly pouting over being forgotten. Not only being forgotten, but then called Alexandra. Sure, it was her name, and her mom had insisted she be given a western name instead of a Korean or Xolnarran, in order to help her 'fit in' when she entered society proper, but she hated being called it, especially by people who she barely knew, who had forgotten her. "Chae." She said it at him with a small frown, only to be cut off as her canine companion that had been firmly cuddled with began to turn into a human. A green human, but one all the same. At first Chae seemed to have little to no reaction at suddenly having a green woman basically right in her chest, face only a few inches away. And then the silent cogs of her brain began to work as she looked her outfit over, "Oh no, she's hot." Came the echo of her mind, not quite reaching her lips as she refused to pull away regardless. Any ogling of the tiny woman that did or did not happen was mostly ignored, though Chae made no attempt to hide her own look over Athena's black-on-black outfit. And then the voice finally seemed to rattle her enough to get her speaking again, a quick giggle as her own gloved hand moved out to Athena's. Rather than shake it, however, her hand shifted, turning Athena's and letting their fingers intertwine, in a display of her total lack of personal space acknowledgement, or how odd that would look, "Alexandra Chae." She gives a genuinely happy smile as she introduces herself, "Also known as 'Rainbow'. I'm sure the pleasure's mutual." Her eyes twinkled a bit as she gave the introduction, "And thank you for recognizing the outfit. I spent most of the month getting all the parts custom made. The hat only barely was finished yesterday, just in time!" Another giggle from the giggly girl. She totally didn't notice her teammates/leader entering, with the wonder of Shift changing form in front of her. Nor did she notice Serenity sneaking out of whatever corner she was in to join the main party, "I should probably be embarrassed for petting you, should I not? But you do have such wonderful fur, mm?" She asked with an amused grin - she still hadn't moved how she sat with Athena at all, as she excused herself - though her fingers came unhooked, and she teasingly looked away from her, like she'd lost interest. She was much more... subdued. Still loud enough to draw eyes to her, but quiet enough to be assumed to be only talking over general party din. Sai was given a few more glances, and then a response, finally, "I'd hope you wouldn't forget me again, Q. You'll wound my pride by making me think I'm forgettable - or make yourself look silly by being able to forget me." A wink, oh so smugly - her gaze not returning to Athena just yet, waiting for her to make a move. If being a blonde was good for something, it was good for dyeing hair. The cheap, temporary hair dye Stephen bought to complete his Han Solo costume was a tad messy, but it looked convincing as he strode inside, cigarette hanging loosely from his mouth. There was a weird ease inside that was juxtaposed to the uneasiness outside. There was talk of a threat, but Stephen Constantine had no fear! Why would the magician who just read a book on teleportation have anything to fear? It was odd, walking into the tower with his gun belt slung low from the weight of a real C96 pistol (he'd ask his dad about that one later) that didn't SEEM magical. He strode with a cockiness that matched the costume he wore, and then entered the room.
As he entered, the first thing he noticed was the light, someone getting pranked by a blueish girl, and Serenity watching the mayhem in a Princess Leia costume. Oh, let's not go into the feelings that he felt that they matched, or that she was scantly clad, but his face showed it for a minute in the reddish hue it took. He figured that he wouldn't be able to sneak up on her, but he quietly and smoothly slid in next to her, his arm sliding over her shoulders with the greeting, "Hello, Princess. Aren't you a little cold?" His ever observant eyes then scanned the room, noting the busty Zatanna, Athena (the green one), and an android who looked like something out of an anime. The blue girl, he concluded, must be her best friend. The Zatanna character made him smirk for the lewdness of the costume, and his memories of a parody about "adult Halloween" created by Robot Chicken.
Back out of his mind, his arm dropped from Serenity's shoulder with a slow turn to the punchbowl, "So, how are you doing, Princess? Sleeping better?"

Masquerade! Grinning yellows, spinning reds . . . Masquerade! Take your fill - let the spectacle astound you!Portia adjusted her bat-like Venetian mask before stepping through the doors to the Titan's common room. The invitation had been a surprise, since she had only met a couple of the Titans once before, mostly working on her own in Jump City. It had been a good idea to team up, just in case the team needed her, or she needed the team later on. Either way, she knew she was walking into a room full of people she had never met. That didn't phase the little firecracker at all as she bounced into the room with a smile. Masquerade! Burning glances, turning heads . . . Masquerade! Stop and stare at the sea of smiles around you!Maybe she had overdressed a little bit with all of the various belts and pouches of her pirate costume, or underdressed in the fact that she was wearing quite a lot more clothes than at least one, looking to be wearing an old Zatanna getup. It was cute, really. The stick-thin Portia would just never be able to pull such a thing off. That girl had a great rack for it. Looking around, she could see a couple of Star Wars lovers, lovers in the sense of the characters they were portraying, or lovers in reality, she didn't know. It was rude to use her powers and find out, or at least that's what she kept telling herself. Masquerade! Seething shadows breathing lies . . . Masquerade! You can fool any friend who ever knew you!All of this she took in as she made her way to the punch bowl, half hoping that no one would call her out and insist she was an intruder. How was she supposed to come back with that? “Oh, I'm Batgirl, nice to meet you too.” Yeah, that would definitely work. She dipped herself a cup before leaning back against the far wall, observing. Well, these were quite the stock of weird people. That definitely meant that Portia wouldn't have a hard time fitting in. Masquerade! Leering satyrs, peering eyes . . . Masquerade! Run and hide - but a face will still pursue you!She fiddled with the strings holding her jacket together, making a mental inventory of the things she had transferred over from her utility belt to these little leather pouches at her hips. She wasn't paranoid... okay, maybe she was. In her defense, they just made her feel a little more in charge of a situation. She was able to protect herself if something happened, and she couldn't completely strike that off of the list of possibilities tonight. It was especially comforting because of the small list of people she actually knew on the team. Words: 424 Outfit Music: Masquerade, Phantom of the Opera

Tonight was a bit new for Abby. She didn't exactly make a point of just showing up places she wasn't expected. A non-Titan at a Titan party, especially someone who isn't even a metahuman, she was certainly a surprise on a couple people's lists. Of course, technically she actually had been a Titan, albeit with an off-brand off-shoot of the group. The Outsiders was not tied to the Titans in any form politically, but on paper, the groups were part of the same initiative. In a matter of speaking, The Outsiders were merely a mobile Titans task force that just chose not to be called Titans. Members were mostly teens and young adults, and indirectly under the jurisdiction of the Justice League. Regardless of anyone's opinion on their validity, Abby was still on the mailing list for young hero matters. 'Once an Outsider, Always an Outsider' was one of the many mottos they tossed around there. Abby pondered whether they'd say that still if anyone ever betrayed them from the inside like Tara Markov did to the Teen Titans. So here she was, for the first time ever, socializing with her colleagues in heroics. With every step she took, she was accompanied by a somewhat subtle clatter of metal rubbing together. Abby, upon hearing the theme of heroes, decided to be a smarmy little dork and reinterpret the notion. So tonight, so wore a costume that was not any actual person, but more an archetype of a person. If you asked her, she would explain she represented 'the uheralded heroines throughout history, who's names are dashed away in history books and shrouded in legend.' Her actual outfit was a half-suit of armor, half-robe sort of outfit that seemed to be an elegant mix of different time periods into a single outfit, accented with a lovely crimson pink color. Her dyed brown hair and feather in her ear was complimented by elegant metallic mask that concealed her facial features. One could argue it was just there to conceal her identity, but she'd argue, the obscurity of her face is part of her representation of an idea and that she is but many faces represented. The armor was surprisingly real. She had salvaged it from an obscure journey with the Outsiders that found the half suit in Arabia and oddly enough befitting of a womanly form. Questions abound of what that entailed, but Abby was proud of her find. What was not real however was the sword sheathed at her waist. Made of rubber actually. Not that she could even hurt anyone if she had a real sword, but she didn't want to come off as a threat her first time at the tower. The rubber in plexiglass hilt would do fine though for the concept. Her once-over of the party turned up her rather unimpressed array of the guests. Many of them irked her conscious. They were probably good people, but their powers made it difficult to get a read on them. Out of those she could perceive, there was a discount-purchased Slave Leia worn by a woman of overconfidence, a matching Han Solo by a man who despite respectable signatures just filled her gut with dread, a green woman whom Abby needed no hint to identify as the Titans West leader, a human with robotic prosthetics and nimble fingers, and a european archer (calouses on his fingers are a dead giveaway). The three she had difficulty with were just going to have to frustratingly accepted. One was simply just a robot (albeit in human skin) that had control of every motion in their conscious body. The other two, she had questions for them. There was the pirate lass who seemed to just obscure herself in microscopic ways. Like there was barrier between the two of them. Mind tricks Abby could only presume. The other one was just baffling. An asian-american dressed like the hero Zatanna. Every attempt to perceive her motions and features just filled her with completely unexpected emotions. Like a panic attack if you tried to just even pick up a tick. Abby had no idea what kind of ridiculous power would cause this, but it definitely bothered her. She'd leave that enigma alone. Perhaps for later. The pirate would be an easier puzzle to play with. With no subtlety at all, Abby approached the buccaneer, armor clinking away. She made an attempt at a greeting that would put anyone on edge. "Salutations marauder. It seems this affair is getting into full-swing. Would you perhaps engage me in conversation awhile?" she questioned, her archaic heightened language almost believably part of the costume. She didn't think about it, but perhaps it was a bit of a plus for her tonight, not being perceived as mocking everyone around her with outdated words.
